The Happenings Mat is a way of connecting preschoolers, teachers, and parents, not only but especially when conflict arises.
The Happenings Mat Classroom Kit has the materials needed for your classroom. In addition to the kit, an in-person training session is highly recommended to ensure an effective introduction of the mat into the classroom. (See below.)
The classroom kit contains:
- The Happenings Mat: The mat is made of a sturdy, washable vinyl that can be rolled up when not in use. The dimensions are 20″ x 35″ and includes grommets in each corner so that it can be hung on a wall.
- Feelings and Needs Cards: The cards are used with The Happenings Mat for a variety of games and activities that familiarize children with feelings and needs.
- Getting Started With The Happenings Mat: An Eight Session Guide: This guide offers eight sessions and activities to help you introduce and practice the concepts of The Happenings Mat. The sessions encourage social emotional learning as children learn to identify their own feelings and needs and the feelings and needs of others.
Trainings Available for The Happenings Mat
To ensure the effectiveness of introducing The Happenings Mat using the classroom kit, a 2.5 hour in-person training session with a maximum of 20 participants is highly recommended. The session provides practice with The Happenings Mat and the session guide.
